What is the main difference between complex 1 and complex 2?
Electron Transport System:
Complex I of ETS | Complex II of ETS |
1. Complex I is NADH dehydrogenase. | 1. Complex II is succinate dehydrogenase. |
2. It accepts high energy electrons from NADH and pumps 4 protons from the matrix to the intermembrane space. | 2. It converts succinate to fumarate and generates FADH2 in the Krebs cycle. |
3. The two electrons are carried to the first complex aboard NADH. | 3. It directly gets FADH2 and the two electrons from complex I and delivers it to ETS. |
