What is the main function of a switch?

1. A switch controls the flow of current in the circuit. When the switch is closed, it allows the current to flow whereas when it is open, current flow stops.

2. Other equipment’s like the bulb, the coil and the bell do not control the flow of current in the circuit. They perform their functions when current flows through them.
