Solution

Rainwater harvesting

  1. It is a system, also known as a rainwater collecting system or a rainwater catchment system, that collects and stores rainwater for human consumption.
  2. Rainwater from natural catchment areas, such as rooftops, compounds, rocky surfaces, hill slopes, or artificially repaired impervious/semi-pervious land surfaces, is collected and stored using artificially built systems.
  3. Simple rain barrels to more complicated constructions with pumps, tanks, and purifying systems are all examples of rainwater gathering systems.
  4. The non-potable water can be used to irrigate gardens, flush toilets, wash cars, and even wash clothing, and it can be cleaned for human use.
  5. With water shortage a major issue in many densely populated areas, rainwater harvesting systems can provide water to households and businesses during dry seasons, reducing the strain on municipal systems.

Purpose:

  1. In numerous rural locations, rainwater is used as a primary supply of drinking water. Rainwater has the advantage of being free of pollutants, salts, minerals, and other natural and man-made impurities.
  2. If rainfall is correctly preserved, we won't have to rely on natural resources such as groundwater and rivers.
  3. Rainwater harvesting will also aid in the management of water crises and the prevention of floods and droughts.
  4. Better regulation of the subsurface water table. This will prevent future water shortages.
