What is the major difference between a solution and an ordinary mixture?
A solution is a homogeneous mixture in which the substances remain dissolved. For example, salt in sea water.
A mixture is a substance formed by combining two or more different materials without any chemical bonding between them. Mixture results from the mechanical mixing of chemical substances and their properties are the same as their components.
In a solution, the substances are dissolved while in a mixture the substances are mixed up but they are not completely dissolved.
Examples of mixtures are foods such as vegetable salads, fruit salads, etc.
Example of solutions is drinks and beverages such as powdered coffee, powdered milk that is mixed in water.
