Solution

Electronic configuration: The electronic configuration of an element describes how electrons are distributed or configured in its atomic orbitals.

Themaximumnumberofelectronsthatcanaccomodatedineachshelliscalculatedbythe2n2formula.ForKshell,n=1,So,thenumberofelectronsinKshell=2(1)2=2ForLshell,n=2,So,thenumberofelectronsinLshell=2(2)2=8ForMshell,n=3,So,thenumberofelectronsinMshell=2(3)2=18andsoon.

For example, the atomic number of sodium (Na) is 11, So there are 11 electrons in sodium and its electronic configuration is 2(K),8(L),1(M).
