The maximum number of electrons that can be accomodated in the nth shell of an atom is calculated by the formula 2n2, where n is the shell number.
O-shell is the 5th shell and hence n=5.
So, there can be 2 x(5)2 electrons,
=2 x 25
=50
Therefore, there can be upto 50 electrons in the O-shell of an atom.
