Endocytosis:

  1. Endocytosis is the process wherein the materials move into the cell rather than are engulfed by the cell.
  2. The process occurs by an infolding or extension of plasma in the membrane to form a vacuole or a vesicle (small vacuole).
  3. The reverse of endocytosis is exocytosis.
  4. Pinocytosis and phagocytosis are types of endocytosis.
  5. Amoeba engulfs its food by the process of endocytosis with the help of pseudopodia.
  6. Pathogens are removed by white blood cells such as neutrophils and monocytes by phagocytosis.
