Changes in our surroundings are classified into many categories.

  1. Slow and fast changes
  2. Reversible and irreversible changes
  3. Desirable and undesirable changes
  4. Periodic and non-periodic changes

Periodic changes

  1. Changes that repeat at regular intervals are called periodic changes.
  2. In a pendulum clock motion of the pendulum repeats at fixed intervals that represents periodic motion or periodic change.

Examples of periodic change

  1. Phases of the moon are periodic changes. The change in phases of the moon repeats every month.
  2. Change of seasons is a periodic change as yearly seasons repeat.
  3. High and low tides in the sea are periodic changes.
  4. Beating of the heart is a periodic change as the supply of pure blood to the body and receiving impure blood from all parts repeats regularly.
