The ant will walk to the mid-point of CD.

$\therefore AM=\sqrt{C{D}^2+M{D}^2}$

$=\sqrt{1^2+(0.5{)}^2}$

=1.11 m

then, from mid point of CD to point B (if walk on the walls)

$\therefore BM=\sqrt{B{C}^2+C{M}^2}$

$=\sqrt{1+(0.5{)}^2}$

=1.11 m.

$\therefore$ smallest distance =1.11 + 1.11

=2.22 m
