Question

What is the mole fraction of solute in 2.5m aqueous solution

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
The answer for your question is ;
As we know the concentration of given solution = 2.5m
where m signifies molality
Hence, molality is moles of solute per Kg of solvent.
Here solvent is water (molar mass 18g/mol)
Hence moles of water present = 1000/18 = 55.55 moles
Moles of solute present is 2.5 moles
Hence mole fraction for solute = moles of solute/(moles of solute + moles of solvent) = 2.5/(55.55 + 2.5) = 0.043.
