Question

What is the molecular mass of H2SO4?

Open in App
Solution

Molecular mass:- The sum of the masses of all the atoms present in the molecule is known as its molecular mass.

Explanation:-

Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) is formed from-

  1. 2-Hydrogen atoms
  2. 1-Sulphur atom
  3. 4-Oxygen atoms

Atomic mass of H-atom = 1.008u

Atomic mass of O-atom = 16u

Atomic mass of S-atom = 32.06u

Mass of H2SO4 = (2×1.008)u+(1×32.06)u+(4×16)u

Mass of H2SO4= 98.08u

Hence, the molecular mass of H2SO4 is 98.08u.
