Question

What is the nature of work done by frictional force?

Open in App
Solution

Frictional Force:

  1. It is defined as the force which is generated when the two surfaces of two different or same particles slide against each other. It can also be defined as the force produced by the touch and slipping of two surfaces against each other.
  2. The direction of the force and displacement are in opposite directions.
  3. The work done by the frictional force is negative as the direction of application of force will be in the opposite direction of the object's displacement.

So, the nature of work done by the frictional force is zero or negative.
