Question

What is the need of equalising air pressures both the sides of the ear drum?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
There is a need for equalizing the pressure as it will remove excess pressure and due to this, the eardrum can vibrate freely without any difficulty.
Usually, the Eustachian tube remains closed. When it opens it passes a small amount of air to prevent the air pressure to create any damage. It equalizes the pressure of air between the middle ear and the atmosphere. Due to the release of the small amount of air at a time, the eardrum does not receive excess pressure and can vibrate freely.
