The new inheritance law is known as the Hindu Succession Amendment Act 2005. This act is beneficial for women in the following ways:
1. It gives equal inheritance rights to women as men, in all states of India.
2. It also gives women the right to live in and/or demand partition in the family house, which was earlier denied to them.
