What is the number of chromosomes in the daughter cells formed after meiosis I?
23
Meiosis occurs in the germinal cells of the reproductive organs. Germinal cells have 46 chromosomes which divide continuously two times to give four daughter cells. These divisions in meiosis are known as meiosis I and meiosis II. After the completion of meiosis I, two daughter cells are formed with half the number of chromosomes (23 chromosomes).
