Open in App
Solution

Plant body:

  1. The epidermis is outer protective layer of the basic plant body in the dermal tissue system (the roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds).
  2. The epidermis of plants is made up of a single layer of clonally related cells.
  3. The shoot apical meristem gives rise to the aerial epidermis, the root apical meristem to the root epidermis, and the seedling epidermis.
  4. The epidermis is normally one cell layer thick, with no chloroplasts in the cells.
  5. Cutin and waxes are fatty compounds found in epidermal cell walls.

Thus, the outermost layer of the primary plant body is called epidermis.
