Let, the oxidation number of Mn be x.
We know that, oxidation number of K=+1
Oxidation number of O=2
Oxidation number of K=+1
+1 + x + 4(2)= 0
+1 + x 8= 0
x=+81=+7
Hence, oxidation number of Mn in KMnO4 is +7.
Similarly, for S in Na2S2O3,
2(Oxidation number of Na)+2(Oxidation number of S)+3(Oxidation number of O)=0
2×(+1)+2x+3(2)=0
x=+2
Hence, Oxidation number of S in Na2S2O3=+2
