  1. The ozone layer is the protective layer that is concentrated in the stratosphere, which is about 15–30 kilometers above the Earth’s surface.
  2. The thickness of the ozone layer is about 5 km and sometimes it is called the ozonosphere.
  3. The reason that ozone is termed a protective layer is that it absorbs the harmful Ultraviolet rays from the sun.
  4. The Ultraviolet rays are emitted from the sun, if a living organism is exposed to these rays can cause damage to the body.
