Solution

  • The blanket of the air around the earth is called the atmosphere.
  • The main layers of the atmosphere are:-
  1. Troposphere- Most of the air is present in this layer of the atmosphere. The thickness of the troposphere changes from about 8 Km over the poles to about 16 Km over the equator.
  2. Stratosphere- It contains a little amount of water vapor. The temperature of the stratosphere is more than that of the troposphere.
  3. Mesosphere- It is a very cold layer and most meteors burn up in this layer.
  4. Thermosphere- In this layer temperature increases with altitude.
  • Troposphere is the part of the atmosphere in which most of the air is present. The thickness of the troposphere changes from about 8 Km over the poles to about 16 Km over the equator.
