  2. Mathematically the momentum is represented asp=mv where p is the momentum, m is the mass of the body and v is the velocity of the body.

Step 2: Calculation of change in momentum

  1. If the mass of the body is doubled, the new mass will be 2m.
  2. If the velocity of the body is reduced by half, the new velocity will bev-v2=v2.
  3. Now the new momentum of the body will bep'=2m×v2=mv
  4. The change in momentum will bep'-p=mv-mv=0.
  5. As there is no change in momentum of the body, so we can say that the percentage change in the momentum of the body will be 0%.
