The pH of any solution is defined as the negative log of Hydrogen ion concentration.
Mathematically,
pH is used to determine the nature of the solution whether it is acidic, basic, or neutral.
Solution
pH range
Acidic
1 - 6.9
Neutral
7
Basic
7.1 - 14
Part 2: Identifying the pH of Milk
Depending on the values of pH we can further classify the solution as strongly and weakly acidic and basic.
The pH level of milk lies between 6.5 to 6.7 and it is slightly acidic in nature.
However, the pH level can vary as there are different sources of milk. We get milk from mammalian species and even from certain plants. Non-dairy milk like cashew, soy, coconut, and almond milk have pH levels of around 6.
In the case of coconut milk, when it is taken out fresh it is slightly alkaline, and when it starts drying it becomes acidic.
