  3. It is commonly known as respiration.

The physiology of breathing involves two stages.

  1. Inspiration: This occurs if the intra-pulmonary pressure is less than the atmospheric pressure. This is negative pressure.
  2. Expiration: This occurs if the intra-pulmonary pressure is more than the atmospheric pressure.
