What is the principle of fractional distillation?
Fractional distillation The process of separation of two or more miscible liquids with the difference in their boiling points close to each other into individual components by distillation is called fractional distillation.
Principle:
1.The mixture of miscible liquid is heated in a distillation flask fitted with a fraction column.
2.Both the liquids produce vapours which rise up in the fraction column.
3.When the temperature at the top of the fractional column reaches the boiling point of one liquid, the vapours of the liquid passes into
condenser, gets cooled and is collected in a beaker kept at the other end of the condenser as distillate.
