Open in App
Solution

The principle of working of soda acidfire extinguisher is based on following: cooling the combustible material below its ignition temperature.
A soda acid fire extinguisher consists of concentrated sulphuric acid and baking soda( sodium bicarbonate) . On pressing the knob, the sulphuric acid reacts with the soda which forms sodium sulfate and water liberating CO2 . This helps in cutting off the oxygen supply and thus extinguishes the fire.
In a soda acid fire extinguisher, when the knob is struck concentrated sulphuric acid present in the fire extinguisher comes in contact with sodium bicarbonate and produces carbon dioxide that puts out the fire.
