Solution

The presence of starch in a solid/liquid sample can be tested by the starch-iodine test. The presence of starch in the sample is confirmed by the formation of a blue-black product.

Solid sample:

1. Take the food sample in a clean container.

2. Add 3-4 drops of iodine solution to the sample.

3. Observe the color change

Liquid sample:

1. Take the liquid sample in a test tube.

2. Add 2-3 mL of iodine solution to it.

3. Observe the color change.
