Question

What is the proper punctuation when typing/writing tv show titles? Italicized, underlined, quotation, etc

Open in App
Solution

The name of the show is italicized or boldfaced.
Explanation:
If you're using an old-fashioned typewriter, you can also underline it. The title of the individual episode is put inside quotation marks.. Punctuation for all titles applies, as all-important words in the title (including the first and last, always) get capitalized.
In arts and literature, the title of a major work (novel, film, TV series, opera, or painting) is boldfaced or italicized. A lesser work (short story, TV episode, or a single song or instrumental piece) is put in quotation marks.
The TV show and episode that introduced us to Captain Picard is Star Trek: The Next Generation , Season 1 Episode 1: "Encounter at Farpoint."
