Under Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 a pregnant woman is allowed the following leave:
1. Leave with average pay for six weeks before the delivery.
2. Leave with average pay for six weeks after the delivery.
If a woman employee doesn't avail six weeks leave preceding the date of her delivery,she can avail of that leave following her delivery, provided the total leave period,preceding and following her delivery, doesn't exceed 12 weeks.
