What is the purpose of the liver in the digestive system? I know that it produces bile, but what other functions does the liver have in the digestive system? Where does bile go?

Functions of the liver:

1. Bile production, assist in trash disposal and fat breakdown in the small bowel throughout digestion.
2. Making protein molecules for blood plasma.
3. Excess glucose is translated into glycolysis (carbohydrate can then be easily turned into glucose for energy) as well as consistency and the generation of glucose as required.
4. Blood amino levels are controlled because they are the building blocks of protein.

Bile juice:

1. Bile is a multifaceted fluid that moves through the bile duct into the small bowel and contains water, electrolyte levels, and rechargeable batteries of organic compounds such as bile acids, cholesterol, phospholipids, and hemoglobin.
