What is the purpose of Wildlife Protection Act? How did it change the lifestyle of people of Kalbeliya community?

The Wildlife protection act was enacted by the government in 1972 in order to conserve animals and plants. According to this act, people are not allowed to harm any wild animals.


Kalbeliyas used to be a community of snake charmers.
But since snake charming was made illegal, they had to change their lifestyle.
Presently they do dairy and poultry farming to earn their living.
