Rate of change of both equations is
ddx(x2+16)=12x2+16×2x
And ddx(x2)=2x

Rate of change of x2+16 w.r.t x2 is
(ddx(x2+16))(ddx(x2))=(12x2+16)2x2x=(12x2+16)
At x=3,
(12x2+16)=(1232+16)=12×5=110
