Heptyne is an Alkyne with general formula CnH2n-2. "Hept" is the suffix given to 7- carbon chain.

Putting n=7 in the general formula,

We get the number of hydrogen atoms = 2×72=142=12

So, the number of hydrogen atoms in heptyne is 12.

Butene is an alkene with a general formula as CnH2n. "But" is the root word for alkene with 4 carbons.

Substituting n=4 in the general formula.

We get the number of hydrogen atoms = 2×4=8

So, the number of hydrogen atoms in butene is 8.

The ratio of number of hydrogen atoms in heptyne to that in butene = 128=32
