Before pollination, microspore pollen grain divides to give prothalial cell and anthredial cell. Anthredial cell then give rise to tube cell and generative cells which remains dormant for about a year.
After pollination, the microspore or pollen grain produces stalk cell and body cell. The body cell then undergoes mitotic division to produce sperm in the ratio of 1:1.
