The lakes supplied all the drinking water needed by the population. There were not many vehicles, no traffic jams and the air was clean. But all this has been lost due to overexploitation of natural resources and lack of waste management. Solid waste that is produced is not collected and disposed efficiently. Sewage is directly dumped into lakes and the ever-increasing vehicular and urban population has led to increased particulate matter in the air. These factors have led to the downfall of Bangalore's environmental health.
