What is the reason for color in soil?

1) Red soil :- Formed due to diffusion of iron in crystalline and metamorphic rocks which gives it red colour.
It is found in southern part of deccan plateau.
Crops grown are potatoes , pineapple , etc.
2) Yellow soil:- The parent material of yellow soil is clayey shale. Its yellow colour is formed by the presence of ferric hydroxide.
Crops grown here are citrus food , tobacco , etc.
Found in orrisa , chattisgarh and piedmont zone in western ghats
