Question

What is the reason for the stability of colloidal sols?

Open in App
Solution

In a given colloid, the colloidal particles carry same charge which can be either positive charge or negative charge. The similarly charged colloidal particles repel each other. This prevents them from coming closer to form larger particles. This prevents the coagulation of colloidal solution and thus provides stability to colloidal solution.
