Question

what is the relation between equivalent conductivity and molar conductivity

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Molar conductivity ( μ) is the the conductivity of a 1 L solution containing 1 mole of electrolyte in it or 1 molar electrolyte.
μ=(Κ*1000)/M
While equivalent conductivity ( Λ) is the conductivity of 1 L of solution containing 1 gram equivalent of electrolyte or 1.
Λ=(Κ*1000)/N

The relation between equivalent conductance, Λ and molar conductance, μ can be given by:
μ = Λ x equivalent factor of the electrolyte(n factor)
