What is the relationship between Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat?

The Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat together are responsible for the smooth functioning of the village. They are related to each other in the following ways:

1. The members of the Gram Panchayat are elected by the members of the Gram Sabha.

2. The work undertaken by the Panchayat is discussed in the sabha and can be implemented only if it has been approved by the members of the sabha.

3. The Gram Sabha also keeps a check on the working of the panchayat. It prevents them from taking advantage of their power and making unfair and wrong decisions.
