Reflection is the phenomenon when waves, whether physical or electromagnetic, bounce from a surface back towards the original medium. A mirror reflects the image of the observer.
Refraction is the phenomenon when waves, whether physical or electromagnetic, are deflected when the waves go through from one medium to another. The wave generally changes the angle of its general direction.


Both the phenomena are a consequence of the fact that light always follows the quickest path.
