Silicones are a group of organosilicon polymer which can be represented by the general formula (R2SiO)n.
(-R2SiO-) is the repeating unit.
Alkyl or aryl substituted silicon chloride in presence of copper as catalyst at temperature 573K are the starting material.On hydrolysis of alkyl or aryl substituted silicon chlorides we get silicones.
