Question

What is the resistance and resistivity of the conductor if it's area is doubled

Open in App
Solution

Resistance is directly proportional to the length of the wire, and inversely proportional to the cross sectional area of the wire. R = pl/A, where R is resistance, p is the material's resistance in ohms, l is the length, and A is the cross sectionalarea in m^2

If area is doubled then resistance become half.

Resistivity is the property of material it is indpendent of area and length of the wire.
