Plasmogamy:

  1. This is a process of reproduction sexually in fungi.
  2. It is a fusion of protoplasm from the mycelia of two-parent cells not the fusion of nuclei.
  3. Cells may be motile or non-motile
  4. From plasmogamy two haploid nuclei are brought into the same cell.
  5. Plasmogamy results in dikaryotic hyphae in which each cell contains two haploid nuclei, one from each parent.
