Solution

DNA Probe:

  1. A probe is a single-stranded sequence of DNA or RNA used to search for its complementary sequence in a sample genome.

Role of DNA Probe:

  1. If a researcher is trying to locate a specific gene in the target entity, the probe for the library can be the corresponding gene from the related entity.
  2. Probes are typically the fragment of a gene as a small fragment is easy to manipulate.
  3. This probe DNA can be synthesized and labeled either with chemiluminescence or radioactivity.
  4. Then it is subject to heat to make it single-stranded and blended with the library DNA on the nylon filters.
  5. The probe then hybridizes with the corresponding sequences in the library.
