Solution
Blood
Blood is the fluid connective tissue that carries different substances throughout the body. The two components of blood are plasma and blood corpuscles.
Erythrocytes
Erythrocytes are also known as red blood cells (corpuscles).
The mature mammalian erythrocytes are devoid of some cell organelles like the nucleus, mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum.
Red blood cells contain haemoglobin that binds oxygen and thus plays a crucial role in transporting the respiratory gas to various parts of the body.
Leucocytes
Leukocytes are also known as white blood corpuscles.
White blood corpuscles are devoid of any pigment.
On the basis of slight changes in their structures, WBC or White Blood Cells or leucocytes are divided into five types that are granulocytes, agranulocytes, lymphocytes, neutrophils and eosinophils.
The main function of leucocytes is to destroy pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and pathogens and hence, contribute to the immunity of the body.
