What is the role of plants in controlling air pollution and soil erosion?

There is a balance between the $C{O}_2$ which occur at the earth's surface, $C{O}_2$ dissolved in oceans and that found in marine and terrestrial sediments. The burning of fossil fuels has caused air pollution by increasing the amount of $C{O}_2$ in the atmosphere. In photosynthesis plants use $C{O}_2$ thus controlling part of air pollution. Roots of the plants hold the soil intact and thus protect it from floods.
