What is the role of Private companies in providing public facilities? What are its disadvantages?

Dear student,

Public Facilities are facilities in the form of institutions and other services that are accessed and utilised by public at large. Some facilities are provided either by Government or Private entity or both.

1- Private companies provide schooling facilities and there are several educational institutions in India run by private companies.

2- Long distance transportation facility for public, and Private Hospitals for medical facilities are also provided by private companies.

3- Some bigger private ownerships also provide all the facilities that are normally provided by the municipal corporation or municipality in a city for the workers or employees who work for them in their firms at their residence .

4- Apart from the areas where there are no facilities of government owned electricity units this facility is provided by private ownership and it is obvious that they charge higher prices for this.
