Reverse osmosis:

  1. Osmosis refers to the process of transfer of a solute from higher concentrations to lower concentrations through semi-permeable membranes.
  2. And reverse osmosis is the process of transferring solutes from lower concentrations to higher concentrations through a semipermeable membrane.
  3. Reverse osmosis is abbreviated as RO.
  4. In RO techniques, pressurized impure or highly concentrated water is separated from a pure water-permeable membrane.
  5. Due to reverse osmosis, impurities in water keep moving to concentrated regions.
  6. It is one of the easiest and most beneficial methods of purification of water.
