Female reproductive system

The female reproductive system consist of:

● A pair of ovaries

● A pair of fallopian tubes (divisible into three parts: Infundibulum, ampulla and the isthmus)

● A uterus which narrows down to form the cervix

●A vagina

●External genitalia


Functions of cervix

Cervix connects the vagina with the uterus. Functions are as follows:

● Passageway of:

○ Menstrual blood from the uterus into the vagina
○ Sperms to the uterus

●The cavity of the cervix is called the cervical canal which along with the vagina forms the birth canal through which the baby comes out during parturition.
