Role of the hypothalamus in the functioning of the pituitary gland:

  2. The hypothalamus serves as a communication center for pituitary glands by sending signals or messages to the pituitary as hormones pass through the bloodstream and nerves all the way down the pituitary stalk.
  3. In turn, these signals regulate the release and production of hormones further from the pituitary gland, which signals other organs and glands of the body.
