Solution
Cell-mediated immunity:
Cell-mediated immunity (CMI) is an immune response that does not involve antibodies.
In Cell-mediated immunity the activation of macrophages and NK-cells takes place.
In Cell-mediated immunity the production of antigen-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocytes, and also the release of various cytokines in response to an antigen takes place.
Role of thymosin's in cell-mediated immunity:
Thymosin is a hormone that is secreted from the thymus gland.
Thymosin stimulates the production of T cells, which are an important part of the immune system.
Thymosin is also needed in the development of B cells to plasma cells to produce antibodies.
