Solution

Cell-mediated immunity:

  1. Cell-mediated immunity (CMI) is an immune response that does not involve antibodies.
  2. In Cell-mediated immunity the activation of macrophages and NK-cells takes place.
  3. In Cell-mediated immunity the production of antigen-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocytes, and also the release of various cytokines in response to an antigen takes place.

Role of thymosin's in cell-mediated immunity:

  1. Thymosin is a hormone that is secreted from the thymus gland.
  2. Thymosin stimulates the production of T cells, which are an important part of the immune system.
  3. Thymosin is also needed in the development of B cells to plasma cells to produce antibodies.
